Dedicated in October 1999, Raymond Walters' new Science and Allied Health Building added 85,000 square feet for a dental hygiene clinic, seminar rooms and labs for chemistry, biology, nursing and radiation technology. In addition, the campus entrance drive was relocated and parking expanded.
Since RWC's founding in 1967, enrollment had risen from 632 students to more than 4,100, leaving the school at only 64 percent of the state minimum of recommended space for a student body that size prior to construction.
The layout of the new building also created a "Quad" on campus, which has been attractively landscaped. The expansion is significant enough to "drastically change" the image of campus," notes university architect Ron Kull.
