The three-month-old yet-to-be-named female will take the place of the beloved Alice the Bearcat, which often graced UC sporting events for 13 years. Alice died in 2003. Watch the video. UC study: Older corneas OK for transplant
UC Dr. Edward Holland has uncovered evidence that may significantly increase the pool of donors for cornea transplants worldwide. Current practice limits donors to those who are 65 or younger. His study shows that age could be extended by 10 years.

Health Sciences library named after Donald Harrison
The new health sciences Library inside UC’s new Center for Academic Research Excellence (CARE)/Crawley Building will open with a new name. The library is being named for Donald Harrison, a local cardiologist and former senior vice president and provost for health affairs at UC. Harrison made a $1 million gift toward the library expansion and renovation in 2005.

UC received its largest ever bequest in history by an individual. The $20 million gift establishes the Thomas Jefferson Endowed Chair in Space Exploration and the Alan B. Statue of co-op founder Herman Schneider taking shape for campus unveiling
The University of Cincinnati will soon have a third statue on campus. At 10:15 a.m. Oct. 10, UC will unveil an 8-foot 1,500-pound statue of Herman Schneider in front of Baldwin Hall. Schneider is considered the worldwide founder of cooperative education. UC's other two statues are of former president William Howard Taft and basketball great Oscar Robertson.

Rosenthals give another $1 million to UC's Ohio Innocence Project
Lois and Richard Rosenthal, who endowed the Lois and Richard Rosenthal Institute for Justice/Ohio Innocence Project with a $1 million dollar gift to the UC College of Law in 2004, has now matched that amount. UC research unveils heightened cancer risk to firefighters
A UC research team led by Grace LeMasters and James Lockey shows firefighters are at a far higher risk of developing certain cancers than people in most professions. A scientific and health care publisher is predicting a University of Cincinnati cancer researcher, Elwood Jensen, a 2004 Lasker Award winner, may now be in line to recieve a Nobel Prize in medicine for his work at the University of Chicago in the 1950s. His research made it possible to target women for hormone therapy to treat breast cancer.
