The bulk of the University of Cincinnati's new pedestrian friendly corridor opened in the spring of 2004 as administrators unveiled Tangeman University Center, the Joseph Steger Student Life Center and several new open spaces. Previous MainStreet openings included University Pavilion in 2003 and the Jefferson Residence Halls in 2002. The final piece, the Campus Recreation Center, opened in February 2006.
