The University of Cincinnati will soon have a third statue on campus. At 10:15 a.m. Oct. 10, UC will unveil an 8-foot 1,500-pound statue of Herman Schneider in front of Baldwin Hall. Schneider is considered the worldwide founder of cooperative education. UC's other two statues are of former president William Howard Taft and basketball great Oscar Robertson.

Sigma Sigma Carnival may bring Bearcat back to Cincinnati Zoo

Funds from the honorary fraternity's annual party May 19 will go toward the down payment to build an exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo to bring an actual Bearcat, Arctictis binturong, back to Cincinnati. The zoo's previous Bearcat, Alice, died in 2003. A 10 p.m. Rozzi's fireworks display will highlight the carnival.

A UC research team led by Grace LeMasters and James Lockey shows firefighters are at a far higher risk of developing certain cancers than people in most professions. A scientific and health care publisher is predicting a University of Cincinnati cancer researcher, Elwood Jensen, a 2004 Lasker Award winner, may now be in line to recieve a Nobel Prize in medicine for his work at the University of Chicago in the 1950s. His research made it possible to target women for hormone therapy to treat breast cancer.
