Heather French Henry, University of Cincinnati alumna and Miss America 2000, continues to speak out about health care issues that affect veterans, a cause she has championed since stepping into the national spotlight five years ago. This summer, Henry met with UC doctors and about 100 other health care professionals and thanked them for their efforts to find better ways to diagnose and treat Hepatitis C, a viral disease to which Vietnam war veterans are particularly susceptible.

The medical specialists, who later attended a UC-sponsored forum on management of Hepatitis and other liver diseases, also heard Henry describe her creation of the Heather French Foundation, Inc., an organization which addresses multiple issues on behalf of America's veterans. Her inspiration for the foundation is her father, a disabled Vietnam war veteran.
