Electronic Media senior Rachel Alig was one of 10 finalists in an online voting contest at mtvU.com. Visitors to the site voted on videos submitted by student journalists, all of whom were vying for the chance to be a Red Carpet correspondent at the 2009 Oscars.

Alig and camera operator Kathryn Jeffries, also an Electronic Media senior, received many votes but were not chosen to advance to the final round of voting.

The top three finalists in online voting will be flown to Los Angeles to take part in the events of Oscar weekend, and one winning team will be chosen to cover the 81st Annual Academy Awards from the Red Carpet.
