CCM alum helps cancer patients with her music
University of Cincinnati alumna Deforia Lane, CCM '70, was profiled in the "Making A Difference" segment of the July 10, 2008 broadcast of NBC's Nightly News with Brian Williams. As the director of the music therapy program at the University Hospitals of Cleveland's Ireland Cancer Center, Lane uses the power of song to provide hope to those who need it most. A cancer survivor herself, Lane is the first music therapist to receive a grant from the American Cancer Society to study music's therapeutic effects on cancer patients.
